Running a Search in Query

Back to Help Center

There are different ways to search in Query. To decide what kind of search to run, you should consider what you are searching for and how you prefer to prompt AI.

Clause Type search

Clause type search enables you to look for specific clauses across contracts. Clause Types are descriptive tags or annotations to certain sections, clauses, or elements within a contract. These for example include, 'Governing Law', 'Jurisdiction', 'Tax', 'Renewal' etc. Clause type search is very useful for understanding which contracts contain a specific clause. See here for more details on how to search by clause type.

Text Search

Text searches are best for when you want to search for a specific word or phrase in your contracts that may not be captured by a label. See here for more details on how to text search.

Natural Language search

This enables you find to information in your contracts the same way you'd ask a question to a person or search on Google.  You can simply type questions or phrases in everyday language like:

  • 'Show me the contracts governed by English Law’
  • ‘Who must I notify about renewal’

See here for more details on how to run a natural language search.

Contract Properties search

This search enables you to find information that is not contained in any specific text in your contract. Contract’s properties include various bits of information that describe the characteristics, origins, usage and validity of a document, beyond just the main textual or visual content. You can search your contracts for the following properties:

  1. Contract Name: Use this to search if you know the name of the contract
  2. Uploaded By: Use this to filter search by the person who uploaded the contract.
  3. Group: Use this to filter search by group.
  4. Contract Type: Use this to filter search by contract type.

To run a search for contract properties:

  • Click on the search bar to Start a Query
  • Select the relevant contract property and a wait a few seconds for Robin AI to return a result.
  • You will receive a filtered list of contracts relevant to your chosen clause type.
  • Click on the clause types on the left hand side to see a preview of the relevant clause.

Multi-layered search

You can ‘stack’ searches. That is, you can continually keep adding contract properties or clause types to make your search results more granular. This type of search is best used when you are looking for more granular details.
