Text searches are best for when you want to search for a specific word or phrase in your contracts.
How to Run a Text Search
For example, you may want to run a text search for all mentions of an audit. Here’s how you do it:
- In your Query home page, click on the search bar where it says Start a Query
- In the dropdown that appears, click on Text:
- Type in the word or phrase you want to search for, i.e. “audit” or “financial audit”
- Hit enter to run your text search
- On the left hand side, you will see the name of all the contracts that contain the word or phrase you searched for and how many matching text results are in each contract. On the right hand side, you will see the text of the contract, with the word or phrase you searched for highlighted.
More ways to text search:
- AND/OR Text Searches in Query allow users to search for multiple words at once.
- Advanced Search enables users to construct complex search queries using parentheses and operators
How to optimise your text search.
- The search will be run on the entire phrase or word you type into the search bar i.e. results will show for contracts with “financial audit” (not “financial” and “audit” separately)
- At this moment, you can only run one text search at a time.
